Make Mine a Myth: Ancient Mythology as Writing Inspiration (Summer 2025)

$200.00

We’re looking beyond ancient Greece and Rome in this week-long, mythology-inspired writing camp. Each of the first four sessions will be spent learning about mythological stories from a particular pantheon. (In the past, students have learned myths from ancient Egypt, China, and the pre-Columbian Americas, as well as old-world tales from Slavic, Celtic, and Nordic countries.) We’ll also tackle writing prompts inspired by the pantheon of the day.

During our fifth gathering, we’ll analyze what we learned about myths and construct our own mythological pantheon and accompanying lore. We might work as a group, we might work independently; it’s entirely up to the writers.

This is a great class for kids who love history and mythology but aren’t quite sure about writing. Fans of Percy Jackson and the accompanying series will be surprised by how much they already know!

Open to rising 6th–10th graders.

Dates: August 4–8, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
