Fantasy Land: Middle School Book Club (Summer 2025)

$70.00

Mrs. Kristin’s book clubs are more like college classes than adult book clubs. She teaches kids how to think critically about what they read; even the youngest book clubbers are introduced to the concepts of themes, symbols, figurative language, and voice, all in age-appropriate language. We debate opinions and find textual evidence to support our ideas. We also read some really great books.

Just like Mariah Carey, we’ll be living out some sweet, sweet fantasies (baby) this summer with an assortment of titles that range from classic to cult favorite and even a recent YA hit. Each is part of a series, so there’s plenty more to read after summer’s end. It’s like Mrs. Kristin planned it that way or something.

Our fantasy books will be: The Gauntletby Karuna Riazi, A Wizard of Earthseaby Ursula LeGuin, and The Wee Free Menby Terry Prachett (part of the Discworld series)

Open to rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders.

Dates and time: Wednesdays: June 11, July 9, and July 30; 4:30–5:30 p.m.

Students are responsible for acquiring their own books. Books are not included in the cost of class.
